Bei Kuo is a Taiwanese born artist and designer who has recently graduate from the Parsons New School for Design. She showed her SS 2018 capsule collection during the last New York Fashion Week.
Kuo worked with materials like neoprene, knit blends, leathers and a meticulous process that included layering and bonding to create the appearance of Chinese characters on the Neoprene pieces. The characters that adorn the pieces represent an array of phrases, one of which is, “Love without Heart,” which Kuo intentionally mistranslated using Google Translate, in an attempt to explore and manipulate language and make it her own.
